The Bristol based driver is preparing to embark on his third consecutive year of Ginetta competition, having made great progress across a season and a half in the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship.
After making his car-racing debut in the series in 2019, the 16 year old was a regular fixture in the competitive midfield action last season and went on to end the campaign with a best ever result of 11th in the Brands Hatch finale.
Will Rochford: “I am very pleased to be back racing with Total Control Racing this season as I move into the Ginetta GT5 Challenge. I am looking to learn as much as possible over the season in such a competitive championship, and hopefully I can pick up some podiums along the way.”
Rochford is Total Control Racing’s first confirmed driver for a planned multi-car assault on the GT5 Challenge this year. The West Midlands based team are no strangers to success in the championship, having won the title in 2014 with George Gamble and again the following year with James Kellett.
Lee Brookes, team manager: “I’m very pleased that we will be continuing to work with Will this season as he enters the Ginetta GT5 Challenge. He’s a professional young talent with huge potential, and he will only become stronger as he spends more time learning in the car.”
Packed grids and close racing makes the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge a popular entry-level championship for many aspiring GT racers. In 2021, the series will compete across both British GT and British Touring Car Championship weekends, sharing a grid with the G40 Cup.
