Returning to the championship in 2019 after two years away, Burns enjoyed his best campaign in the series so far as he took the battle for the drivers’ title right down to the final race of the year– just as he had done in his last season in 2016.
Running with two-time champions Rob Boston Racing, Burns kicked off the season with race wins in each of the opening two meetings, before a run of eight consecutive podium finishes in the middle of the season firmly placed him in the title battle.
Despite ending the season with more podium finishes than anyone else, the Weston-Super-Mare racer narrowly missed out on the title. He returns with Rob Boston’s squad this year hoping to make another challenge for championship glory.
Will Burns: “I’m delighted to be competing in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup once again. I really enjoy competing in what is a fantastic championship, with great racing on track and a high profile package to compete on in support of the BTCC.
“I definitely come into 2020 with unfinished business in the series. To twice take the title battle down to the final race of the season and miss out is agonising, and I’m determined to come back stronger and challenge for the title once again with the fantastic team at Rob Boston Racing.”
The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta’s flagship championship, with a three-class structure incorporating Pro, Pro Am and Am categories. In 2020, the series will be contested over eight race weekends in support of the British Touring Car Championship.
