Garnett entered Ginetta competition for the first time last season following a successful four year spell in the Mazda MX5 Supercup. Staying with the same team that he raced with in Mazda’s, he was a front-runner in the GT4 SuperCup Am Class throughout the 2019 season.
The 43 year old secured a breakthrough top ten overall finish in the second meeting of the year at Donington Park, while at home circuit Croft he enjoyed a best outright result of seventh and a breakthrough first podium finish in the Am Class.
Garnett went on to enjoy an impressive end to the season with a run of three class podiums in the final five races of the year, and the Yorkshireman is aiming to carry that momentum into 2020 in his Telescope Group, AC Database Services (ACD) and ValetPRO supported Ginetta G55.
Carl Garnett: “I’m really excited to be able to confirm my second season. I’m looking forward to working with AK Motorsport again this year. They’re a great group and with a quick team-mate alongside me, I’m determined to improve on last year’s pace.
“We are targeting overall top ten finishes in this very competitive series. If the cars are capable of doing the times that the Pro’s are setting, then I want to push myself to be as close to them as possible. I can’t wait for the season to begin.”
The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta’s flagship championship, with a three-class structure incorporating Pro, Pro Am and Am categories. In 2020, the series will be contested in support of the British Touring Car Championship.
