Four-time Ginetta GT4 SuperCup class champion Colin White enters his 14th consecutive season of racing, first making his Ginetta debut in 2009. A motorsport legend in the paddock, the Glastonbury based driver is respected as the only four- time class Ginetta Champion. Colin remains one of the most elite Ginetta drivers with an impressive tally of 77 class wins and 142 podium finishes to his name.
Colin White’s racing career kickstarted over 40 years ago, dominating multiple championship series along the way. Following his final Championship win in the Ascar series, Colin was introduced to Ginetta at the annual NEC Motorsport show series 14 years ago. He has since gone onto achieve phenomenal success in Ginetta championships and global endurance racing, claiming the most class wins by any Ginetta driver and retaining his championship winning legacy.
The announcement of Colin’s fourteenth season entry is nothing short of a miracle following a big racing incident at Thruxton in August, which he was unable to walk away from. The driver sustained critical injuries and lead to a long road to recovery whilst unsure about the future held for his racing career.
Colin said: “Having met with surgeons the initial talks were not whether I would race again but more about trying to save the leg and being able to walk again.”
“Cutting a story short 6 months later at the amazement of my surgeon the bones had regrown, and he was removing the external cage and pins, my leg having healed I was back walking and working on strength and fitness. As it happens just in time for the start of the 2023 racing season.”
“I have to express my thanks to the NHS staff, surgeon, circuit Marshalls/medics, friends and family for all of their help over the past months.”
Despite being told the regrowth of his shattered bones would take at least a year, Colin has made a remarkable recovery in just six months! His journey to recovery manifest’s Colin’s resilience, dedication, and passion towards motorsport after confirming his return to the Championship.
Colin said; “What keeps me coming back to Ginetta every year- well the close racing I love, the comradery amongst the drivers, the racing coverage and Ginetta’s continued support.”
The 2023 Ginetta Championship season will see Colin White battle it out in contention to claim the GT Pro driver’s Title. The all new Protyre Motorsport GT Championship consists of a multicar- multiclass grid, where the experienced racer will compete against the freshest talents in the sport. Just weeks away from the season commencing on April 08 at Oulton Park, Ginetta look forward to welcoming Colin back to the paddock.
Steph Bush, Championship Manager, said; “We’re delighted to have Colin back with us for 2023, he is very much a part of the Ginetta family and I’m sure he will impress us as always in the new GTA Pro car, we’re thrilled that he’s come back fighting fit to join us in a new era of Ginetta.”
