Making their debut in the championship last season, the Norfolk-based team immediately established themselves as a leading force on the grid. Taking overall race wins and the Rookie Cup title with Zak O’Sullivan, they also secured the Winter Series Rookie crown with Aston Millar.
Leading their entry for 2020 is Josh Rattican and Joel Pearson (both 15 from Yorkshire), who were both established front-runners last year with ten and eight Rookie class podium finishes respectively. Millar (15, Sussex) meanwhile returns for his first full campaign.
Bailey Voisin (16, Switzerland) joined the team for the Winter Series and duly recorded a first overall podium finish, a feat also achieved by Millar and Pearson on the same weekend, while teaming up with them for the first time this year will be second year driver Freddie Tomlinson (15, Yorkshire).
Jamie Ross, team principal: “Everyone at R Racing are extremely happy to be returning to the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship with such a strong driver line-up for 2020. Nathan and I have had a lot of years combined working in the series, but only one year as team owners.
“We feel it was a very successful first season for the team in 2019 and I would like to thank everyone involved. Following a successful season, it’s only natural to want to have another and I feel that we are well equipped to do so.
“With Joel, Aston, Josh, Bailey and Freddie behind the wheel, we have five drivers who are all capable of challenging at the front of the field. Our main sponsor STAUFF UK have also extended their support into this season. They are a huge part in making all this happen for us, so a massive thank you to John and Iain at STAUFF.”
The Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship is the UK’s longest running and most prestigious Junior series, offering the first step on the motorsport ladder for 14-17 year old racing drivers as they compete on the support bill for the British Touring Car Championship.
