Emerging from some epic battles at the front of the field to hold the early championship lead is Geri Nicosia (Quattro Motorsport). He’s enjoyed an impressively consistent start to the campaign, with podium finishes in each race so far including a victory last time out at Thruxton.
The chasing pack is headed by reigning Ginetta Junior champion Adam Smalley (Elite Motorsport), who has stood on the top step of the podium three times already. The other race-winner so far is Gordie Mutch (Fox Motorsport), whose maiden success came in the Oulton Park opener.
Scott McKenna (Xentek Motorsport) finished on the podium at Silverstone last season and is determined to get a first win in the series this time around, while Total Control Racing team-mates Connor Grady and Ruben Del Sarte join him in having collected 2019 silverware.
Katie Milner (Merlin International) is in high spirits after posting her first two pole positions at Thruxton. Josh Malin (Richardson Racing) also impressed as he got into the mix for podium finishes, while Josh Hislop (Race Car Consultants) showed his pace with the fastest lap of the meeting.
A competitive midfield pack features a number of drivers capable of producing a standout result, including Xentek Motorsport’s Gus Bowers and Sami Saarelainen, reigning Am champion Nick Halstead (Fox Motorsport), Danny Harrison (Mutation Motorsport) and Will Dyrdal (Privateer).
David Ellesley (Race Car Consultants) and 2018 Ginetta G40 Cup champion Tom Golding (Assetto Motorsport) have both shown fantastic pace so far this season, while debutant Josh Steed (Mutation Motorsport) is one to watch after missing the first two meetings due to a broken arm.
Lewis Ryder (Privateer) and Matt Maxted (Graves Motorsport) have both broken into the top ten this season, with Abbi Pulling (Race Car Consultants), Ryan Firth (Reflex Racing) and privateer trio Jesse Chamberlain, Charlie Budd and Daniel Budd also looking to make their mark.
The Am Class meanwhile has been hugely competitive so far this season as well, with Dale Albutt (Quattro Motorsport) and Wesley Pearce (Elite Motorsport) rising to the top of the standings after both taking a win in each of the opening two meetings of the season.
They’ll be determined to add more victories to their tallies, though Fox Motorsport duo James Townsend and Matt Konczos will be aiming to stop them. Townsend won the opening race at Oulton Park, while Konczos is chasing a first class win in the series.
Phil McGarty (GBR) featured on the class podium at the season opener, while Declan Jones Racing trio Bal Sidhu, Simon Khera and Jagjeet Virdie have shown strong progression so far and will be aiming to make further strides up the order this weekend.
