The season opener at Brands Hatch last month was an historic moment for the championship as the new Ginetta G56 GT4 made its debut, and Kellett (Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport) dominated proceedings. He converted pole position into a clean sweep of race wins, recording the first hat-trick in the series for four years.
Whilst Kellett stole the headlines, reigning Ginetta Junior champion Aston Millar (DTO Motorsport) pieced together an impressive debut with a podium treble, and Reece Somerfield (Breakell Racing) kicked off his 11th consecutive GT4 SuperCup season with his first podiums since 2019.
Elite Motorsport’s 2021 race-winners Josh Rattican and Tom Emson are ones to watch after both having an up and down opening weekend, while Henry Dawes (Century Motorsport) has silverware in his sights after starting the year with a pair of fourth place finishes.
Kicking off only his second ever season of car racing, Darren Leung (Assetto Motorsport) enjoyed a superb start with a pole position and two class victories in the G56 Am class. The other opening weekend win went the way of fellow Ginetta GT Academy graduate Wes Pearce (Breakell Racing).
Another new name on the GT4 SuperCup grid is Mike Brown (Ultimate Speed Racing), who started his season with a trio of podiums. Colin White (CWS Racing) had a tougher opener and will be ready to kick-start his challenge for a fifth Ginetta title.
As well as the new G56 GT4, the GT4 SuperCup grid is also featuring the G55 model this season. Blake Angliss (Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport) was the quickest of those on the opening weekend, taking two G55 Pro wins as Luke Reade (Wolf Motorsport) picked up the other.
Former Ginetta Junior front-runner James Taylor (Team HARD) was right in contention for the class wins as he scored a pair of podium finishes, with Nick Halstead (Fox Motorsport) also picking up silverware. Conner Garlick (Xentek Motorsport) has a first trophy in his sights this weekend.
A competitive entry in the G56 Am class was headed first time out by Fox Motorsport duo Ian Duggan and James Townsend. Duggan led home his team-mate for a pair of one-two finishes, with Townsend having previously topped the times in qualifying.
Daniel Morris (Simon Green Motorsport) impressively collected a trio of top three finishes including the opening class win of the season, with 2021 returnee Luke Warr (Race Car Consultants) also stepping onto the podium. Garry Townsend (Assetto Motorsport), Sam Callahan (Breakell Racing) and debutant Josh Poulain (Motus One) complete the class entry.
