Steed (Xentek Motorsport) has been an absolute revelation so far this season, winning at least one race during each of the opening three events of the year. A run of six consecutive podium finishes has helped him built a healthy lead at the top of the standings.
When Steed hasn’t missed out on the race win, it’s John Bennett (Elite Motorsport) who has graced the top step of the podium. The second year contender has three wins and two second place finishes to his name, however a DNF at Brands Hatch means he’s playing catch up in the points.
Steed’s closest challenger in the standings therefore is Will Aspin (Elite Motorsport). The Ginetta Junior graduate having finished each of the opening six races on the podium and scored a first pole position two weeks’ ago at Silverstone, with a maiden race victory his next target.
Ben McKenna (Xentek Motorsport) is one to watch after making a huge impression on his debut at Silverstone with a pair of podiums. The other top three finishers so far this season are David Ellesley (Race Car Consultants) and Connor Grady (Alastair Rushforth Motorsport).
Narrowly missing out on the podium with fourth place finishes last time out were Will Orton (Alastair Rushforth Motorsport) and Magnus Kriklywi (Race Car Consultants), with Harley Haughton (Elite Motorsport) joining them as a top six regular in his maiden campaign.
In truth, any one of the leading Pro class contenders could pick up silverware this weekend. TCR duo Will Rochford and Haytham Qarajouli, and Mikey Doble (Xentek Motorsport) have battled for the podium and scored top five finishes this year.
Nat Hodgkiss (Race Car Consultants) and Ginetta G40 Cup graduates Owen Hizzey (SVG Motorsport) and Ignazio Zanon (Raceway Motorsport) have all shown flashes of huge potential this season, while 2020 front-runner Rory McKean (SVG Motorsport) is set for a long-awaited first appearance of the campaign.
