Smalley (Elite Motorsport) heads into the final three races with the odds in his favour, courtesy of a healthy 44 point lead. The 2018 Ginetta Junior champion’s tally of eight race wins this season is more than anyone else, and he was a victor on the Brands Hatch GP circuit last year too.
Hibbert’s chances of title glory took a blow with a tough outing at Donington Park two weeks ago, however the Rob Boston Racing ace won’t give up easily. A six-time race-winner this season, he’s more than capable of getting in position to capitalise if Smalley hits any trouble.
In contrast to Hibbert, Rattican (Elite Motorsport) enjoyed his best weekend in the championship so far last time out, with a third win of the season as part of a podium hat-trick. That kept his title aspirations alive, though his chances are slim with a 71 point deficit to Smalley.
The Donington Park weekend was a memorable one for James Kellett (Century Motorsport) too, as he took a race win on his GT4 SuperCup debut. Carlito Miracco (Preptech UK) also scored a victory, his second of the season, with both drivers aiming to get back on the top step this weekend.
James Blake-Baldwin (AK Motorsport) is the only other driver on the grid to take a race win this season, an eye-catching victory back at Thruxton. Reece Somerfield (Breakell Racing) is a former double race-winner at Brands Hatch, albeit on the Indy layout.
Kent based drivers Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport) and Luke Reade (Rob Boston Racing) are hoping to pick up some Pro class silverware at their home circuit, while Steve Roberts (Rob Boston Racing) will be keen to add to a brilliant third place result at Donington Park.
The hugely competitive Pro field also features consistent top six finisher Joe Marshall and his Team HARD stablemate Seb Melrose, plus Century Motorsport’s talented duo of Henry Dawes and Blake Angliss.
This weekend marks the last races of the current era of the GT4 SuperCup before the introduction of the Ginetta G56 GT4 next year. One of the title contenders in the inaugural season a decade ago was Nathan Freke (Century Motorsport), who makes an exciting return to the grid this weekend.
In the Pro Am class meanwhile, Colin White (CWS Motorsport) is on course to successfully defend his title and become a four-time Ginetta champion. An incredible 16 wins in 20 races tells the story of his season, with the veteran now having no less than 76 GT4 SuperCup class wins under his belt.
The only driver who could potentially stop White is Carl Garnett (AK Motorsport). Runner-up in the Am class last season, he’s impressively taken 19 podium finishes across the campaign, more than anyone else on the grid, but crucially he has only taken to the top step on two occasions.
Two drivers to watch this weekend will be Dan Morris (Simon Green Motorsport) and Darren Leung (Assetto Motorsport). Morris has scored two class wins in his three appearances so far this season, while GT Academy graduate Leung picked up a podium in an impressive debut last time out.
Garry Townsend (AK Motorsport) and Luke Warr (Race Car Consultants) have been consistent front-runners across the campaign and are targeting maiden class wins, while Nick Halstead (Fox Motorsport) and Eric Boulton (Team HARD) are also potential podium contenders.
