Nicosia is taking the next step on Ginetta’s ladder of championships as he prepares to enter his sixth consecutive season racing with the Yorkshire marque. Starting his career with two seasons in the Juniors, he went on to enjoy a great run in the GT5 Challenge.
After impressively taking three wins in four races contested in 2017, the Buckinghamshire racer returned for a full campaign the following year and added two race victories to his account plus five further podium finishes on his way to third in the standings.
The 20 year old was back in the championship last year and once again starred at the front of the field, with 12 top three results including four wins. Following his recent success, Nicosia is in high spirits as he makes a full-time return to the British Touring Car Championship support package.
Geri Nicosia: “I’m really excited to get the season underway with the guys at AK Motorsport, moving another rung up the Ginetta ladder at the same time. Ginetta have had great success with their GT4 car around the globe, and the live ITV4 coverage is something both myself and my sponsors have become accustomed to over the years, so it’s great to be back out on the big stage!”
AK Motorsport are preparing to embark upon their third season in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup. Starting off as a single-car entry with Carl Shield in 2018, they expanded to a two-car squad last year and enjoyed Am class podium success with Carl Garnett.
Anthony Kane, team owner: “We are delighted to have Geri on board for the 2020 season and look forward to working with him on a Pro championship campaign. We had some fantastic results throughout last season and we strongly believe we can be battling it out at the sharp end.”
The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta’s flagship championship, with a three-class structure incorporating Pro, Pro Am and Am categories. In 2020, the series will be contested over eight race weekends in support of the British Touring Car Championship.
