Jimmy Broadbent Joins Ginetta GT Championship Grid with Ginetta Cars and Xentek Motorsport

Sim racing content creator turned Praga Cup Champion and Bilstein factory driver, Jimmy Broadbent, will take part in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship at Snetterton this weekend.

Broadbent started out as a sim racing content creator growing an audience with his humour, personality and skill. He racked up wins in the iRacing Indy 500, Virtual 24h Le Mans and grew rapidly with his series, ‘How fast can X lap around the Nordschleife’.  From GT to experimental cars to the Ford Model T, Jimmy has virtually lapped the ‘Ring tens of thousands of times in all manner of machinery.

In 2021 Broadbent was invited to race in the inaugural Praga R1 Cup. Initially partnering with Jem Hepworth, he then was moved to partner 2019 Ginetta GT5 title challenger Gordie Mutch. Together, they achieved two wins and two podiums. For the 2022 season, the pair went on to win 6 races, podium 7 times and claim the championship title.

Most recently Jimmy has raced at the Nurburgring Nordschleife as a Bilstein Factory driver with the Black Falcon team. Joined by fellow sim racing content creator Super GT (Steve Brown) and Nurburgring hot lap content creator Misha Charoudin, the trio took on the Green Hell with their fourth – N24 winner, Manuel Metzger.

The team finished their debut race at the ‘Ring, a 4 hour endurance race, first in class and went on to finish 2nd in class in the N24 that was cut short due to fog.

Jimmy Broadbent: “I’m incredibly excited to get the chance to drive with Ginetta. I’ve been a fan of their cars for years so I’m very much looking forward to racing one myself!”

Alejandro De Lafuente – Ginetta Cars:

“To be able to bring Jimmy to the grid is truly exciting. He creates wonderfully engaging content. He has built an audience through not only his personality but with his genuine passion for racing. As a driver, he’s put in the work for many years and it’s clear to see with his results.”

“For Ginetta, it’s another step to building our brand awareness in a way that benefits not only us but the teams and drivers as well. We’ve seen the effect of Jimmy’s audience engaging with other series. Our teams and drivers deserve to have their hard work and talent seen by more people.”

Mike Simpson – Ginetta Cars:

“The Ginetta GT Championship is the perfect platform for Jimmy to show off his driving ability as it is the chosen route into SRO GT4 and GT3 competition. The G56 GTP car is a very capable car. It produces close racing whilst sharing many attributes to its big brother, the Ginetta G56 GT4 Evo. We have a great pool of talent. So, it’ll be interesting to see where everyone lines up for Race 1 with Jimmy in the mix.”

Sarah-Jayne McKenna – Xentek Motorsport:

“We’re delighted to be welcoming Jimmy to the team for his Ginetta debut. He’s a great personality and many of our team have enjoyed watching his content over the years. He’s done some great things on the track in recent seasons and could spring some surprises this weekend for sure.”

Jimmy joins Morgan and Marcus Short in their Ginetta GT Championship debut. You can watch all three races live on the Ginetta YouTube Channel.
