Ginetta have written their latest chapter of success in the British GT Championship with a sensational first overall GT4 race win for the Ginetta G56 GT4 in the latest rounds at Snetterton.
The driver combination of Stuart Middleton and Freddie Tomlinson produced a dominant performance to convert pole position into victory in the opening race in Norfolk, with their Raceway Motorsport team-mates Michael Crees and Thomas Holland following them home for a one-two result on the road.
The result is the culmination of three years of development with Ginetta’s latest generation of GT4 machinery, continuing a rich legacy for the manufacturer in British GT following multiple title wins and race victories for the G50 and G55 models.
The G56 has proven to be a potent force in the championship through the 2023 season so far in the hands of Raceway and Toro Verde GT. They secured an overall podium finish in the Oulton Park opener and a front-row start at Donington Park. Plus, they had and a long spell leading the race in the prestigious Silverstone 500.
Snetterton proved to be the strongest weekend to date for the G56. Middleton and Tomlinson led the charge in the #56 machine. After Middleton put them on pole position for race one, they stormed clear of the pack for a controlled lights-to-flag win.
Their success was backed up by a great performance for the Toro Verde GT team as well with their new driver pairings. Joe Wheeler and Ian Duggan finished second in the GT4 Pro-Am class in race two. Mike Simpson – sharing with James Townsend – proved the G56’s pace with the Sunoco Fastest Lap of the Weekend prize.
Words from Mike Simpson
Mike Simpson, Ginetta Motorsport Manager: “This is a huge moment for Ginetta. It’s year three of the G56 GT4 programme and after coming close on occasions, it’s a great feeling to see the car take its first overall British GT4 win.
“We’re all so passionate about this car. A lot of effort has gone into this success. We brought in Raceway Motorsport and Toro Verde GT this year to expand our presence on the grid.
“It’s a testament to all the hard work at the factory and by the teams. When you work together as a cohesive unit to push development, you can achieve great things.
“Hopefully this is a springboard now to get the UK GT4 market share with the G56 like we previously had with the G55. We will expand into Europe and the rest of the world so more people can enjoy our brilliant product.”
