The Surrey based racer began his career in karting and enjoyed success in corporate and hire kart championships, before getting his first taste of car racing by contesting the Ginetta Junior Scholarship in 2015 and reaching the final day of competition.
Spencer went on to compete in the MG Trophy for three years and impressively finished in the top three of the standings in both the 160 and 190 class. The 21 year old will now reunite with Ginetta in 2021 as he makes the transition to a 355bhp Ginetta G55 in the GT4 SuperCup.
Andy Spencer: “I’m really looking forward to next season in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup. Getting behind the wheel of a Ginetta again following the Junior Scholarship felt great, especially having been out of a race seat for over a year.
“To have the opportunity to be working with Century Motorsport and Nathan Freke is fantastic. They are a highly respected, multiple championship winning team and together we’ve enjoyed a positive first test. I’m feeling confident for 2021 and hope to be fighting for good results and the overall championship.”
Century Motorsport are contesting their 11th consecutive season in the GT4 SuperCup in 2021, having finished runner-up in both the Pro and Pro Am classes this year. Spencer is their second confirmed driver on the grid, with Blake Angliss previously announced for the new GT Pro class.
Nathan Freke, Team Owner: “We’re thrilled to welcome Andy [Spencer] to the team. Whilst he hasn’t raced competitively for a couple of years, and even then that was in front wheel drive, he impressed on his first test.
“Andy took to the Ginetta like a duck to water and turned out some very respectable lap times. With a nice pre-season test programme, we are excited for what the 2021 season will bring for Andy and Century Motorsport.”
The Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta’s flagship championship. In 2021, the series will be contested over eight race weekends in support of the British Touring Car Championship.
