The first group of 2024 Ginetta champions were provisionally crowned after a pulsating weekend of action in the penultimate round of the season at Donington Park this past weekend (07-08 September).
Mckenzie Douglass and Nick White wrapped up the PRO and AM titles respectively in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship, as Ethan Jeff-Hall cemented his status as the top rookie in the Ginetta Junior Championship with new Teams’ champions R Racing.
Douglass wrote his name into the history books with a stunning hat-trick of PRO wins at Donington Park. That continued a stunning run of form for the Welshman, bring his tally up to 13 victories across a season in which he’s finished off of the podium only once.
Enjoying similar levels of dominance has been White, with a remarkable 100% podium record in the AM class combined with a streak of 17 consecutive wins. Those results mean White becomes a back-to-back Ginetta champion, alongside his GT Academy success last year.
Celebrating his first Ginetta title win meanwhile is Jeff-Hall, after securing the rookie honours with 11 class wins across an incredible debut campaign. The teenage talent now heads into the season finale at Brands Hatch holding a 37-point lead in the fight for the overall Drivers’ championship.
For R Racing, a successful defence of their Junior Teams’ crown makes it four title wins in five seasons. The Norfolk squad went on a record-equalling run of ten consecutive race wins this year and have crossed the milestone of 150 podium finishes in the championship.
There is still plenty up for grabs heading into the Brands Hatch season finale later this month (28-29 September) however, with both the GTA and Rookie champions to be crowned in the GT Academy, the overall Junior victor and the GT Championship Teams’ winners.
Kelly Edmund – Ginetta Events Manager: “Everyone at Ginetta would like to congratulate our first champions of the 2024 season. To win a title with a weekend to spare is a brilliant achievement and a testament to the speed, skill and hard work of these drivers and teams. We look forward to crowning more champions at Brands Hatch.”
