Hedley (Elite Motorsport) goes to Cheshire this weekend with a 61 point advantage courtesy of a supreme run of form. The only driver on the grid to have enjoyed a podium finish in each meeting so far, the two-time race-winner has also taken the last four pole positions in a row.
His closest challenger is Zak O’Sullivan (Douglas Motorsport), who is aiming to challenge for title silverware on two fronts. A 100% rookie podium record so far this season has secured him a healthy lead in the class standings, while he lies second overall with five top three results to his name.
Richardson Racing are taking the fight to the top two with a three pronged attack. The in-form Will Martin has won two of the last three races contested, James Taylor is also a double race-winner this year, while Casper Stevenson has finished third overall in each of the last two races.
Stevenson is one of the leading rookie talents on the grid and got his maiden class victory last time out. Theo Edgerton (Total Control Racing) is a double winner already, while Josh Rattican (R Racing) and Roman Bilinski (Alistair Rushforth Motorsport) are multiple podium finishers.
Douglas Motorsport pair Gus Burton and Lorcan Hanafin have produced some great action so far this season and have the potential to battle for victory this weekend, as does Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport), the first race-winner of 2019, and podium finisher Ethan Hawkey (Total Control Racing).
The depth of talent throughout the grid is shown by the fact that seasons best results for Ginetta Junior Scholar Ethan Brooks (Total Control Racing) and Ben Kasperczak (Privateer) at Croft means 18 different drivers have now taken top ten race finishes in the opening eight races.
A number of drivers are hoping they’ll be the next to break into the top ten, including Douglas Motorsport’s Bailey Voisin and Freddie Tomlinson, Total Control Racing’s Daniel Gale and Will Rochford, and Molly Dodd (Premiership Academy Racing).
One driver to watch this weekend after showing real potential on his series debut last time out is Tom Ward (Elite Motorsport), while Frankie Taylor (SVG Motorsport) has impressed with his race craft by gaining more places from his grid positions than anyone else on the grid.
