Golding (CTS Motorsport) and Dawson (Assetto Motorsport) have served up an entertaining duel at the front across the opening two meetings of the season at Oulton Park and Donington Park, with both taking home an equal share of three race victories so far.
The duo have already produced a highlight reel of wheel-to-wheel racing, including a sensational photo-finish at Donington, and the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit will be the perfect stage for more exciting action this weekend.
While those two have had the edge over the competition so far, there’s a talented group of drivers ready to take the challenge to them and knock them off the top step of the podium. Leading the charge at Donington Park was Ginetta newcomer Owen Hizzey (SVG Motorsport).
Bouncing back from a tough debut, the teenage racer stormed to a hat-trick of podium finishes and will now have a maiden victory in his sights. Also mixing it with the top two at Donington was Chris White (Raceway Motorsport), who narrowly missed out on taking home a trophy.
Ignazio Zanon (Raceway Motorsport) lies third in the points after securing three class podium finishes so far. Mark Sansom (Assetto Motorsport) has shown he has the pace to challenge at the front and he joins Paulo Scripo (Raceway Motorsport) in targeting a breakthrough podium.
Alongside the battle for overall honours, the G40 Cup also houses a Chairmans Cup for drivers aged 45 and over. Mike West (Assetto Motorsport) holds the early class advantage following a fantastic run of six consecutive podium finishes to date, including a victory hat-trick at Oulton Park.
West has had to work extremely hard for that success though in an ultra-competitive class entry, which was strengthened last time out by the return of reigning class champion Roy Alderslade. Running with Raceway Motorsport, he made his mark with three podiums including a win.
The other Donington Park success went the way of Robin Grimwood (Assetto Motorsport), a maiden class victory for the second year contender. He has four podium finishes so far this year, with Mark Lee (SVG Motorsport) just one behind on three.
Two other drivers come to Kent with Chairmans Cup silverware under their belt this year, Neil Wallace (SVG Motorsport) and the hugely experienced Shawn Fleming (SF Racing). His team-mate Gary Wager will be determined to force his way onto the rostrum.
