Somerfield made his GT4 SuperCup debut back in 2012 in the G50 Cup class and has remained a near ever-present figure on the grid ever since. Stepping up to a G55 the following year, he has gone on to record a total of 204 race starts in the championship so far.
The privateer entrant scored his first win in brilliant fashion during the 2015 season opener at Brands Hatch, and went on to record a second success at the same circuit four years later. In total, the former Caterham champion has picked up 11 overall podium finishes in the series.
Somerfield will be determined to add to that tally this season as he joins a competitive entry in the championship’s headline Pro class. His entry comes with the support of Forkers Civil and Ground Engineering.
Reece Somerfield: “It’s great to be back in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup once again this year and I’m looking forward to another season of competitive racing with the Ginetta team.”
The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta’s flagship championship. In 2021, the series will be contested over eight race weekends in support of the British Touring Car Championship.
