Fred Green Wins 2025 Ginetta Junior Scholarship

Fred Green has been crowned the latest winner of the coveted Ginetta Junior Scholarship, securing himself a fully-funded season in the Ginetta Junior Championship next year.

The hotly-contested three-day event (11-13 October) took place at Ginetta’s own Blyton Park circuit in Lincolnshire, with a record-high entry of 70 talented young drivers battling it out across a number of driving, fitness and media assessments to secure one of the biggest prizes in UK motorsport.

A number of leading teams from the Ginetta paddock supplied cars for the event, with an elite judging panel overseeing the entrants’ driving skills; Charlie Robertson, Adam Smalley, Aston Millar, Josh Rowledge, Josh Steed, James Gornall and Ryan Harper-Ellam.

Motorsport commentator and pundit Jade Edwards was on hand to evaluate the teenagers’ media and communication skills, while Ginetta’s in-house personal trainer Richard Chessman put their fitness and determination to the test with a range of physical challenges.

After two hugely-competitive qualifying days, 25 drivers made it through to the final day of competition. After another round of assessments, the field was narrowed down to 12 drivers, before a final five were selected; Green, Andy Consani, Rocco Coronel, Lewis Goff and Noah Wolfe.

Those drivers got one last run behind the wheel of a Ginetta G40 before the judges deliberated and made their final decision, announcing Green as the 2025 Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner. The 15-year-old, nephew of successful single-seater and touring car racer Jamie Green, has enjoyed a successful karting career and was crowned the 2024 IAME EuroCup vice-champion.

The full prize package for 2025 includes all entry fees, use of a G40 Junior race car for the whole season including insurance and a season supply of race tyres and fuel, and professional car preparation from an experienced team for the duration of the season.

Fred Green, 2025 Ginetta Junior Scholar: “I’m so happy to get given such a good opportunity, it’s massive for me to start my car-racing career. The scholarship has been such a competitive event and you can never be too confident with how good everyone was, but I feel my hard work paid off and I’m over the moon to win.

“I can’t wait for next season in the Ginetta Junior Championship. The close racing should be amazing and hopefully we can try to win it. Thank you to Ginetta for giving me the opportunity to represent them as the scholarship winner.”

Kelly Edmund, Ginetta Events Manager: “Welcoming our biggest ever entry for the Ginetta Junior Scholarship ensured it was an incredibly competitive three days at Blyton Park. Our judging team were very impressed with the level of talent across the driving, media and fitness assessments.

“Selecting the 25 finalists was hard enough, let alone trying to narrow down the field on Sunday. It was a very tough decision for the judges to choose a final winner, with fine margins between the last five drivers.

“Fred Green put in a brilliant performance and is a very deserving winner of the scholarship. He is going to be a welcome addition to the grid next season, while we hope to see a number of the other scholarship contenders competing against him.”

Green joins an impressive list of Ginetta Junior Scholarship winners, following in the footsteps of the likes of three-time W Series champion Jamie Chadwick, current and former British GT champions Adam Smalley, Dan Harper and Sennan Fielding, and Porsche Carrera Cup ace Robert de Haan.

The 2025 Ginetta Junior Championship season will get underway on the Donington Park Grand Prix circuit over the weekend of 05/06 April.
