Trice realised his dream of becoming a racing driver in 2019 when he joined the grid of the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club. Immediately establishing himself as a front-runner in the series, Trice ended an impressive debut campaign with three podium finishes and a pole position.
After a year out, Trice is back on a Ginetta grid this year and targeting a championship challenge. Once again the Kent based racer will be using his racing to raise awareness of male fertility in his role as an ambassador for the Fertility Network UK charity.
Toby Trice: “This championship is the first step onto the GT ladder and with a big step up in machinery we have to be realistic with my expectations this year. That being said, with pre-season testing planned this time round we are confident to be running up the sharp end of the field right from the off. Let’s go fight for that championship!”
Trice is SVG Motorsport’s third confirmed driver for the inaugural season of the GT Academy, with the experienced West Sussex-based team having already announced Ginetta G40 Cup graduates Mark Lee and Neil Wallace.
Andy Johnson, team principal: “We’re delighted to add Toby [Trice] to our line-up for the first season of the Ginetta GT Academy. It’s going to be a big step for him after a season out, but with some testing under his belt, I have full confidence he’ll get up to speed quickly and impress this year.”
The GT Academy is a new addition to Ginetta’s stable of one-make domestic championships for 2021. Giving drivers of all experience levels the opportunity to enjoy entry level GT racing, the series offers an uncompromising package of high performance racing at an affordable cost.
