SVG Motorsport are the latest experienced Ginetta team to confirm an entry into the new-for-2021 GT Academy, with the West Sussex based squad having been a regular fixture in the G40 Cup and GT5 Challenge paddocks over the last few years.
For Lee and Wallace, this will be the latest chapter of Ginetta journeys that started in 2019. Both were competitive forces in the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club that season, before going on to star in the G40 Cup this year with SVG Motorsport.
Lee was crowned the Chairmans Cup champion following an impressive season, with an ultra-consistent record of 11 podium finishes in 15 races securing him a first Ginetta title. Wallace was a regular at the sharp end of the class field too and finished third in the points.
Andy Johnson, team principal: “We’re incredibly excited to be entering the Ginetta GT Academy next season and we’re looking forward to the challenge it brings. Both we as a team, and our drivers, wanted to try something new and the GT Academy fits the bill perfectly.
“After a fantastic season on and off track with Mark [Lee] and Neil [Wallace] this year, we couldn’t be happier that they’re back with the team for 2021. We thoroughly enjoy working with them and both are good, quick drivers with a lot of potential.
“The Ginetta GTA looks like a cracking car, and our team is looking forward to getting to grips with our new cars soon. With a number of drivers from the G40 Cup having signed up for the GT Academy, we already know to expect some great, close racing next year.”
The GT Academy is a new addition to Ginetta’s stable of one-make domestic championships for 2021. Giving drivers of all experience levels the opportunity to enjoy entry level GT racing, the series offers an uncompromising package of high performance racing at an affordable cost.
