The West Sussex-based team have been a regular fixture in the G40 Cup paddock over the last few years and they enjoyed a standout 2019 campaign, with Alistair Barclay taking them to four overall race victories and a top four points finish.
Experienced Ginetta racer Marshall will lead their challenge this season as he makes a full-time return to the G40 Cup. Previously a front-runner in the series in 2015 and 2016, he contested two events last year and took a best finish of 15th at Silverstone.
An exciting addition to the Ginetta family is Owen Hizzey, who steps up to senior competition for the first time. The teenage talent starred in the Junior Saloon Car Championship last season, taking multiple podium finishes on his way to fourth in the final standings.
Wallace and Lee meanwhile are amongst the latest group of drivers stepping up from the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club to the G40 Cup. Both were competitive forces in their maiden car-racing campaigns, securing best results of seventh and sixth respectively.
After completing their GRDC seasons, they both went on to make their G40 Cup debuts at the end of the campaign. Lee contested two events and picked up a top ten finish at Donington Park, with Wallace securing a high of 12th on the same weekend.
Andy Johnson, team principal: “After a great season in the Ginetta G40 Cup last year, everyone at SVG Motorsport is delighted to be back this year with such an exciting blend of youth and experience in our 2020 driver line-up.
“Andrew [Marshall] has always been a quick driver behind the wheel of a Ginetta G40 and his experience should serve him well, while Owen [Hizzey] is an exciting addition to the grid. We saw his clear potential last year and we’re confident he’ll adapt well to the Ginetta’s.
“We enjoyed racing with Neil [Wallace] last season and we’re delighted he wanted to stay with us this year. We’re pleased to be able to provide trackside support to Mark [Lee] through the season too, and we reckon both the GRDC graduates can be front-runners in the Chairmans Cup.”
The Ginetta G40 Cup is an ideal platform for drivers who have recently discarded their ‘novice’ plates to learn the ropes in a packed grid full of drivers of similar ability and experience. Popular with graduates from the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club (GRDC), the series races in support of British GT.
