Both Zanon and White graduated from the G40 Cup to the GT5 Challenge last year with Raceway. The former made the big step up to the GT5 Pro class and enjoyed a strong campaign, scoring three top ten finishes across the campaign.
Ignazio Zanon: “Deciding to compete in the GT5 Pro class was a big challenge for me considering the lack of experience I had in comparison to my competitors. However, it was the right decision as it pushed me to improve and learn a lot faster.
“This season I’m looking to consolidate what I have learnt from last year and sharpen my skills even more. Progressing to the top of the Pro category achieving good results on the way.”
White meanwhile enjoyed a brilliant 2021 campaign in the Am class, bouncing back from a tough start to record seven victories and take the title battle down to the season finale. He’ll be joined in the Am class at Raceway by Paolo Santi, a three-time race-winner last year.
Chris White: “In 2021 I had a fantastic season, taking seven race wins, 12 podium finishes and second overall in the AM class. This year, I am focused on the Am title win and I’m looking forward to partnering again with Raceway Motorsport, and my teammates Ignazio and Paolo.”
Luca Hirst, Raceway Motorsport Team Principal: “We are extremely happy to have our trio of GT5 Challenge drivers back with us again for a third year running. 2021 was a big year for them, learning the GT5 car and being on an extremely competitive grid was a great way for them to improve their skills after moving up from the G40 Cup grid. We are looking forward to being competitive for both the GT5 Pro and Am class championships this season.”
Packed grids and close racing makes the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge a popular entry-level championship for many aspiring GT racers. In 2022, the series will compete across both British GT and British Touring Car Championship weekends.
