2020 Teams’ champions R Racing have confirmed a strong six car line-up for the Ginetta Junior Championship this year.

R Racing Mount Six Car Challenge For 2021 Ginetta Juniors

The Norfolk-based team, run by Jamie Ross and Nathan Read, head into their third consecutive season in the Ginetta Junior Championship off the back of a hugely successful 2020 campaign. Alongside winning their first Teams’ title, they also challenged for the Drivers’ crown with Bailey Voisin.

Leading their entry are two drivers staying with them for another campaign. Freddie Tomlinson (16, Yorkshire) enters his third season in the series having taken a maiden podium last year at Croft, while 2019 Winter Series Rookie champion Aston Millar (16, Sussex) scored two podiums of his own.

Joining the team after starring as rookies last season are Tom Edgar (16, Northern Ireland) and Josh Miller (15, Kent). Edgar picked up two overall top three results en-route to a top six championship finish, while Miller ended his debut campaign in style with a stunning race victory in the Brands Hatch finale.

Completing the entry are two exciting new talents. Former British Minimax karting champion Callum Voisin (14, Switzerland) follows in his brother Bailey’s footsteps, while Ian Aguilera (13, Mexico) has a successful karting pedigree in his homeland and was a finalist in the recent Ginetta Junior Scholarship.

Jamie Ross, team principal: “I couldn’t be happier with the team Nathan and I have around us. Off the back of last year’s Teams’ title, we are very proud of how such a large number of people gelled in a short space of time and brought home so much team success. A huge thank you to everyone part of that, and to STAUFF UK who have helped us achieve our ambitions.

“Each year our aim is to become stronger and picking our line-up for 2021 took lots of thought and consideration. We wanted drivers and families that would gel with the team and make the awning an enjoyable place to be. I feel we have a good mix of existing drivers and new faces to keep pushing the team forward.

“We have a good winter testing programme in place and hope to make lots of progress with Phil Glew and Ash Sutton working their magic, and with our line-up I’m confident we have drivers who will deliver throughout the season. I also think I speak for all the team when I say bring on 2021, and let’s hope we’re back to how it should be with spectators and supporters with us.”

The Ginetta Junior Championship is the UK’s longest running and most prestigious Junior series, offering the first step on the motorsport ladder for 14-17 year old racing drivers as they compete on the support bill for the British Touring Car Championship.
