Luke Reade is within touching distance of becoming the inaugural champion in the Protyre
Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship heading into the penultimate round of the season at Brands Hatch GP.
Kent native Reade (Wolf Motorsport) heads to his home circuit Brands Hatch needing to score only
ten points around the Grand Prix circuit to become a two-time Ginetta champion, following on from
his G55 Pro class title success in the GT4 SuperCup last year.
Launching his title challenge with a glorious run of six consecutive race wins at the start of the
season, Reade has sat at the top of the standings ever since. Moving into double figures for victories
last time out at Cadwell Park, he will now aim to win the title in style by extending his current run of
nine consecutive podium finishes.
Behind the runaway leader, there’s no less than four drivers set to battle it out for the runners-up
spot. Callum Davies (SVG Motorsport) leads that pack having tallied up a brilliant 12 podium finishes
in his first-ever season of car-racing, with those results putting him over 20 points ahead of closely-
matched trio of Colin White, Carl Garnett and Ruben Hage.
Four-time Ginetta champion White (CWS 4×4) has been mightily impressive on his return to racing
this season and picked up five podium finishes, a number matched by Garnett. The latter’s Breakell
Racing team-mate Ruben Hage is charging up the standings, with five wins to his name so far after a
brilliant double at Cadwell Park.
GT5 Challenge graduate Bal Sidhu (Xentek Motorsport) is contesting his third event since stepping up
to GT Pro, while the class entry has increased to ten cars for this weekend thanks to the welcome
returns of race-winner Conner Garlick (Xentek Motorsport), Liona Theobald (SVG Motorsport) and SF
Racing pair Shawn Fleming and Gary Wager.
While the destination of the GT Pro title is almost decided, the battle at the head of the GT5
Challenge class is much closer. Xentek Motorsport team-mates Ella Lloyd and Luke Garlick have
enjoyed some phenomenal contests this year and are separated by less than 30 points.
The championship lead swung back in Lloyd’s favour at Cadwell Park, as the former Ginetta Junior
racer took a double win while Garlick twice hit trouble. Lloyd now has eight wins to Garlick’s five for
the season, but they are level on 13 trips to the podium in total.
Regular podium finishers Karim Sekkat (Breakell Racing) and Sam Harvey (Xentek Motorsport) are
contesting third in the standings, while the class entry is boosted this weekend by the returns of
multiple race-winner Will Rochford (TCR), Paolo Santi (Raceway Motorsport) and Pablo Jequier (Race
Car Consultants).
