The new Pro Am class is being introduced to build upon the championship’s existing two-class structure, which had been in place since 2014, with the aim to bridge the gap between the two and ensure the series caters for all levels of driver that want to compete in the BTCC support series.
The Am class will return to its original purpose as a home for gentlemen drivers wanting to compete in a more relaxed fashion, with Pro Am designed to cater for young, less experienced drivers a class to race in before going on to compete with the front-running Pro competitors.
Ashley Gallagher – Ginetta Motorsport Manager: “We feel the introduction of a Pro Am class to the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup will provide more opportunities for drivers to find their home in the championship and promises to produce more competitive action throughout the field.
“The new class should entice young drivers to the championship who are looking to gain experience in their first season before going on to compete at the front of the field in the Pro category, and we’re delighted to have already had some great interest from prospective drivers.”
