GT all-star Esmee Hawkey confirms return to British Motor racing with Toro Verde Intelligent Money British GT campaign in the number ‘80’ Ginetta G56 GT4 partnering Joe Wheeler. Ginetta is delighted to welcome back two former Ginetta Junior stars competing for GT4 honours.
This is a very exciting year for female racing drivers. Ginetta Cars sees ten talents compete across the three championships in support of the British GT series. Esmee has been chosen as the Ginetta ambassador to lead Ginetta in our premier class. The ambassador role will see Esmee offer racing weekend advice to our new driver. She will also support Ginetta with driver coaching and promotional event work.
Esmee Hawkey has quickly made a name for herself since her Ginetta G40 Junior debut back in 2014. The 25-year-old has risen through the ranks of motorsport. She’s progressing in Porsche to claim her Pro-Am Carrera Cup title in 2020. In 2021 and 2022 Esmee competed on the international stage in Germany’s premier championship, DTM. In that competition, she was driving the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo.
Accompanied by experienced Ginetta GT4 driver, Joe Wheeler, the dynamic duo is set to ignite their A-game in the number 80 race car at the Oulton Park Season opener next week. Following the Toro Verde team and driver determination, the driver duo is confirmed just days before the race week build up begins.
Join the accelerating action at Oulton Park, 08/10 April which will see Hawkey and Wheeler compete wheel to wheel against Toro Verde team members, Duggan and Townsend in the number 86 race car.
Esmee Hawkey:
“I’m really excited to represent Ginetta as their female brand ambassador for 2023. Racing alongside Joe Wheeler in the #80 Ginetta G56 GT4 car, this will be my debut season in the Intelligent Money British GT Championship. Having raced internationally for the past two seasons I’m really looking forward to coming back and racing on home soil.”
“I tested the car for the first time this week at Oulton Park with Toro Verde. We feel we have a strong car and I’m extremely excited to get back racing and fighting for podiums. I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved to help make this deal come to fruition at such late notice.”
Jules Westwood, Toro Verde Team manager:
“Toro Verde are delighted to welcome Esmee into our Ginetta GT4 campaign. She is a very quick Silver driver, with great results under her belt. She will partner our other quick silver driver, Joe Wheeler.”
“Together, they will provide a formidable pairing, which will have every chance of podiums and race wins. Ginetta has provided us with a great product to use for both our pairings for 2023 and we are very grateful for all their help and support.”
