CWS Motorsport, run by Ginetta racing stalwart Colin White, will be entering a G56 GT4 in the twice round-the-clock event around the Dubai Autodrome circuit. The team are regular competitors in the 24H Series in Ginetta machinery.

White will share driving duties in the G56 with Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson, factory driver Mike Simpson and James Jakes. Tomlinson makes a welcome return to racing for the first time since his 2016 VdeV title victory, while Simpson reunites with White having twice previously competed with him in Dubai.

The 24 hour race debut marks the next step in the development programme for the G56 GT4, which made its competition debut last year in the British GT Championship and is being introduced as the lead car in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup this season.

Ginetta’s have enjoyed great success in the Dubai 24 hour race in the past, with G50 and G55 models being guided to the SP3 (GT4) class victory on five occasions between 2012 and 2017. A competitive entry this year sees 12 GT4 cars representing five manufacturers set to battle it out.

Mike Simpson – Ginetta factory driver: “We’re very excited to be heading to Dubai and giving the Ginetta G56 GT4 its 24 hour race debut. The 24H Series team put on a fantastic event to kick off the year’s racing and we’re proud to be representing Ginetta with Colin [White] and CWS Motorsport.

“Endurance racing is in our blood at Ginetta and the G56 GT4 has been developed to compete at the highest level in all races, from a 20 minute sprint to a 24 hour marathon. If the results of our previous generations of GT4 machinery mean anything, we will be up there battling at the sharp end in Dubai.”

Alongside the G56 GT4, CWS Motorsport will also be entering a G55 for 2021 Ginetta GT Academy rookie Darren Leung, former BTCC driver Bobby Thompson and Frenchman Alain Bucher. After Dubai, the team will be travelling to Abu Dhabi to enter both their cars in a six hour race at the Yas Marina Circuit the following weekend (22/23 January).
