Ginetta Announce Provisional 2022 Race Calendars

Ginetta’s group of one-make domestic championships will continue to be an integral part of the two highest profile and most popular racing packages in the UK, in support of the British Touring Car Championship and the British GT Championship.

Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup

The 12th season of the GT4 SuperCup will start an exciting new era for Ginetta’s flagship domestic championship, with the introduction of the Ginetta G56 GT4. The series will once again run solely in support of the British Touring Car Championship.

A change for 2022 will see the series contest a smaller seven event calendar, with a key focus on missing the opening BTCC event to give drivers and teams more time to test their new cars, as well as avoiding clashes with British GT to allow entrants to use the same car in both series if they wish.

A packed grid of teenage talents will once again contest nine race weekends, with only the BTCC event at Oulton Park in mid-June being skipped to ensure drivers can focus on their important GCSE examinations.

Running as a standalone grid of GT5 specification Ginetta G40’s for 2022, the championship will return to competing alongside the BTCC three times in a season. The opening rounds will take place at Oulton Park meanwhile, a welcome return to the Cheshire circuit after a year away.

Ginetta GT Academy:

Once again primarily competing alongside British GT, taking in three current or former British Grand Prix circuits along the way, the championship will make another guest appearance on the BTCC package too as it races at Oulton Park for the first time.

Ashley Gallagher – Ginetta Motorsport Manager: “We are delighted to unveil our provisional calendars for the 2022 race season, and to confirm that once again our championships will be a key part of both the BTCC and British GT packages.

“Both packages provide our drivers and teams with a great platform of live television coverage and online streaming, while as this season has proven again, they allow of drivers to race in front of huge crowds of passionate motorsport fans.

“One of the key changes for 2022 is the reduced number of events and a later start for the GT4 SuperCup. With the G56 GT4 being introduced, it’s important that teams and drivers get plenty of opportunity to get to grips with it before they go racing.

“We feel each of the championships have a good variety of circuits and layouts on their calendars and we can’t wait to see what exciting racing they produce throughout 2022.”
