After a one-off debut in the championship last season, Raceway Motorsport will be embarking upon a first full GT Academy campaign this year. The Yorkshire squad are targeting title glory in a third different Ginetta series, following previous successes in the GRDC and G40 Cup.
Warren will head into the 2022 campaign hoping to join an elite club in becoming a three-time Ginetta champion. After winning the GRDC Rookie crown in 2020, the Surrey based racer linked up with Raceway in the G40 Cup last year and excelled with 10 wins and 16 podiums from 18 races en-route to the Pro title.
Marc Warren: “I am extremely excited to be stepping up to the GT Academy with Raceway Motorsport! After two seasons racing the Ginetta G40, this feels like a natural step forward for my racing career and I am greatly looking forward to the challenge of adapting to a completely new car in the Ginetta G56.
“With a number of the fastest drivers from 2021 G40 Cup stepping up to GT Academy this year, I am fully expecting to be battling with the same drivers again and enjoying more close, clean racing at the front!”
Holland battled with his team-mate for the G40 Cup Pro title throughout the 2021 season, with five class wins helping him to the runners-up spoils. The 19 year old is aiming to go one better this year, having taken a brilliant GTA class win on his championship debut at Silverstone last season.
Thomas Holland: “After doing a one off round in the GT Academy at Silverstone, I decided that was where I wanted to progress to further my journey into the GT racing ladder. The new car should present a new set of challenges which I look forward to overcoming, especially the aero which is something I have very little experience with.
“I want to go for the championship as I believe the team and I have the potential to do so after enjoying a successful 2021 together. I hope to make the team, my sponsors and my family proud.”
Luca Hirst, Raceway Motorsport Team Principal: “We are delighted to enter the Ginetta GTA Academy with such a good driver pairing in Marc and Tom, our 2021 G40 Pro Champion & Vice Champion. It’s great to see them making the next step up the Ginetta ladder.
“From our successful entry into the Silverstone round of GT Academy with Tom last season, we feel we could potentially be fighting for the title in 2022 with either driver.”
The Ginetta GT Academy gives drivers of all experience levels the opportunity to enjoy entry level GT racing. The series offers an uncompromising package of high performance racing at an affordable cost, with the exposure of competing at British GT and BTCC events.
