Jones has been a familiar face around the Ginetta paddocks over the last nine years, with the GT4 SuperCup race-winner having also competed in the Juniors and GT5 Challenge. The Liverpool born racer then formed his own team last year, running multiple cars in the GT4 SuperCup.
On track, the 24 year old has made appearances in the championship across five separate seasons. A full-time campaign in 2017 produced six podium finishes, including race wins at Snetterton and Rockingham, on his way to fourth in the final points standings.
After making a one-off appearance last year at his home circuit of Oulton Park, Jones will now return to the series with two-time champions Rob Boston Racing, aboard a Ginetta G55 with an eye-catching purple livery courtesy of his title sponsor.
Declan Jones: “The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup has always been a great value for money way to compete on the BTCC package, with the publicity and television coverage you receive, and with good, hard racing on track as well I’m really excited to be making a return to the series.
“I haven’t raced full-time since my 2017 season, so it’s brilliant to be back with who I feel are the best team on the grid in Rob Boston Racing. The only reason I go racing is to win, I’m a very competitive person and with a great car, team and family around me, I want to go for the title.
“I’m very happy to be working with Sadler’s Brewing Co. Their investment has allowed me to prepare for the 2020 season in the best way possible. I’m looking forward to representing this excellent brand and hopefully enjoying success together this year.”
Sadler’s Brewing Co. is taking full advantage of the promotional opportunities available with the GT4 SuperCup racing in support of the BTCC and plan to have a hospitality bus present on race days, allowing fans to sample their range of spirits and craft beer.
Chris Drew – Sadler’s Brewing Co. Marketing Manager: “Stepping into the fast lane with Declan Jones at the BTCC weekends provides an incredible platform to showcase Sadler’s Peaky Blinder Irish Whiskey to a huge audience of over 40,000 trackside spectators and over a million at home viewers worldwide.”
The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta’s flagship championship, with a three-class structure incorporating Pro, Pro Am and Am categories. In 2020, the series will be contested over eight race weekends in support of the British Touring Car Championship.
