The 33 year old from Sweden was awarded the drive after winning the Racedriver.me motorsport scholarship. With no previous racing experience, he emerged victorious from a competitive entry after being assessed on his mental agility, approach, driving ability and attitude.
The scholarship is run by Adam Lucas, who himself contested two rounds of the GT4 SuperCup in 2019. Andersson, who got experience in a number of different race cars during the scholarship process, will race the same Ginetta G55 that Lucas drove (pictured).
Alexander Andersson: “I’m so thrilled to be given this opportunity to compete in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup and I am really looking forward to working with the team and learning the car before I race.”
Oliver Barnard, Preptech UK Team Manager: “This is a fantastic opportunity to work with RaceDriver.me and to help develop a driver who has little racing experience.
“Our engineers will be working closely with Alexander to give him the support he needs and help develop the talent he has. With Carlito [Miracco] already onboard with us, Alexander will have everything he needs at his disposal to maximise his opportunity.”
The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta’s flagship championship. In 2021, the series will be contested over eight race weekends in support of the British Touring Car Championship.
