Crowned the provisional 2020 rookie champion during the penultimate meeting of the year at Donington Park, Warren kicked off the Snetterton weekend by setting the rookie class pace in qualifying for the fourth time in five sessions this season.
Guillaume Le Meur was a seasons’ best second quickest and he duly converted his front row start into a brilliant race one drive. After moving past Warren for the lead on lap two, he pulled eight seconds clear by the finish for a maiden victory and podium finish in the series.
Thomas Holland ran third throughout, while the most exciting battle of the race was for fourth place between Michael Johnston, Jeremy Sussex and Peter Dilnot. The trio traded positions almost every lap, with Sussex taking the spot on the penultimate lap.
Johnston was fifth to make a strong return to the grid for the first time since the Oulton Park season opener, while Dilnot rounded out the top six from ninth on the grid. After dropping to the back of the pack on lap one, a great comeback drive from Rupert Laslett netted him seventh.
The second race of the weekend featured a fascinating duel between Warren and Le Meur for the rookie win. Warren led for the first half of proceedings, but came under increasing pressure and Le Meur eventually got ahead with an impressive move around the outside at Agostini.
As he doubled his win tally, Warren came home second and Holland once again completed the podium. A close battle for fourth between Sussex and Laslett was settled on the final lap as a mistake for the latter let Sussex through, continuing his impressive return to the grid.
Le Meur started race three from pole position, however an unfortunate moment at the opening corner lost him ground. That opened the door for Warren to storm through to a dominant victory, his 11th of the year, while Le Meur was able to fight back to grab second on the last lap.
Missing out on the top two was Holland, but he still came away with his seventh podium of the season, while another exciting battle played out just outside the podium places. A late move for Sussex got him fourth ahead of Johnston. Joe Butterworth and Tony Whitney secured weekend best results of sixth and eighth respectively, with John Wyatt having picked up ninth in race two.
With provisional champion Stephen Docker and his leading rivals this season missing from the final rounds of the season, the main GRDC class featured a two-car entry for the weekend; Andrew Cohen-Wray and Jay Morton teaming up at Assetto Motorsport.
Using his experience from competing in the rookie class in the previous rounds this year, Cohen-Wray had the edge on his team-mate to turn pole position into three wins. Morton showed great progress in his debut weekend meanwhile, improving his pace in every session.
