After a successful debut, winning the Middle East GTX Class Trophy, Ginetta are heading to Spa-Francorchamps this weekend for the 12 Hour with their latest GT offering, the G56 GTX.
The G56 GTX is Ginetta’s next step in the development of its G56 chassis, which previously sat at GT4 level.
The Ginetta development cup car was first seen at the Kuwait 12hr where it was driven to class victory by Mike Simpson, Freddie and Lawrence Tomlinson. It then went on to win the Dubai 24hr with Nico Prost joining the team as the 4th driver.
Ginetta’s Motorsport Director, Mike Simpson said, ‘The team at the factory have developed a wonderful race car. We’ve taken the successes of the G56 chassis and released it from its competition restrictions to create the most complete GT racing machine we can. It’s proven its reliability this winter, winning its class over 12 and 24 hour races.’
Running the car at the Spa 12hr is Team CMR who are coming off a GT4 win in FFSA French GT4 with Ginetta’s G56 GT4 Evo. They’re also the organisers for the French Ginetta GT Academy that supports FFSA French GT.
The race winning cup car will run at Spa with a production customer format meaning it will run with proven parts and set-ups, rather than be in the factory development format that it was in the Middle East.
The car will again be driven by Mike Simpson, Freddie and Lawrence Tomlinson.
On racing at Spa, Freddie said, ‘Spa is a bucket list track for any driver. There’s a long list of greats who have raced there. I’m excited for the opportunity to race there as well. I think the car has been developed well and will perform so I’m looking forward to it’
Ginetta will race at the Spa 12hr on the 19th – 21st April 2024
The team have qualified 2nd in the GTX class and 14th overall
