Ginetta On Course To Claim Seventh British GT4  Driver’s Title

Ginetta continues to be the leader in GT4 competition, with its seventh British GT4 title in 10 years confirmed with a race to spare. Customer teams HHC Motorsport and Lanan Racing will go head to head in a fight for the 2017 British GT4 Drivers’ championship at the Donington Park season finale on September 23/24.

Ginetta Junior graduates William Tregurtha and Stuart Middleton carry a 25-point lead for the HHC Motorsport team, but will also incur a 10s pitstop success penalty for finishing third at Brands Hatch last weekend, whilst Lanan’s Alex Reed and David Pittard race handicap-free.

Should Reed/Pittard win the final race then Tregurtha/Middleton must finish no lower than fifth in order to maintain their position at the top of the table. Equally, Lanan must finish second or higher to have any chance of catching the HHC pilots in the points.

Middleton/Tregurtha would also become the youngest crew in terms of combined age ever to win a British GT title if the points battle was to go their way. The two crews are also battling for this year’s Sunoco Whelen Challenge crown and chance to race at January’s Daytona 24 Hours. Tregurtha is currently second and just 2.49 points shy of the lead, while Middleton, Reed and Pittard are right behind in third, fourth and fifth.

Both HHC and Lanan can also still win the GT4 Teams’ title. HHC’s single G55 currently enjoys an 18.5-point advantage over Garage 59’s two-car entry, with team principal Charlie Kemp hoping to uphold this impressive lead during the Donington Park finale. Lanan are a further 6.5 points back in third.

This continued success of the Ginetta GT4 only reaffirms its position as the car of choice for GT4 competition. A winner on the international stage, it has taken class victory in the Dubai 24 Hours five times in six years, made history in the 2016 Pirelli World Challenge with rising star Parker Chase taking GTS Rookie of the Year, as well as a first and third in class on its Motul Sepang 12 Hours debut last season.
