Enzo Fittipaldi, 2016 Ginetta Junior Scholarship finalist, has today announced plans to contest the Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship with Douglas Motorsport.
A finalist in the 2016 Ginetta Junior Scholarship, the 14 year old karting ace caught the Ginetta ‘bug’ during the three-day event, thus making his decision to switch from karting to cars even easier, as he looks to advance his motorsport career.
With the aim of finishing inside the Rookie Class top three for 2016, Enzo is no stranger to the world of motorsport as he comes from something of a motorsport pedigree. His grandfather Emerson is a two-time Formula One World Champion and Indianapolis 500 winner, whilst his uncle Max Papis and cousin, Christian Fittipaldi have both competed in Formula One.
Not only that, but with a Brazilian-American heritage, the Skyline Apts. and Air Commander Aerospace-backed driver now lives in Camberley, Surrey with his racing driver brother Pietro, who was 2014 BARC Formula Renault Champion and now is driving FIA Formula 3.
Enzo Fittipaldi, driver; “I’m really looking forward to this season. For sure switching from karts into sports cars will be a challenge, but I’m a fast and aggressive driver and I’ll be going for the win in every race! The Ginetta Junior Championship allows young drivers like myself to familiarise myself with all of the UK’s big race tracks, whilst also being a highly competitive and well-televised series; what’s not to love?!”
Ashley Gallagher, Ginetta Championships Manager; “It’s great to see Enzo progressing from the Ginetta Junior Scholarship into the Championships itself. He was an incredibly popular driver during his debut with us, and his energy both on and off track will be immensely popular in the paddock. I am sure everyone is just as excited as we are to follow his progress in 2016.”
Committed to bringing drivers into motorsport, and nurturing their development as racing drivers throughout their careers, Ginetta has implemented a number of changes to the Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship for 2016.
There will be an additional five races added to the calendar, with three races scheduled at Donington Park, Croft, Knockhill, Rockingham and Silverstone, whilst a testing restriction will also be introduced. The changes are designed to further strengthen the Ginetta motorsport ladder, the prize package is also designed to encouraged progression through the formulae. The winner of the Junior series will be loaned a Ginetta G55 GT4 car to be used in the 2017 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup.
