Nova Race Narrowly Miss Out On Dubai 24 Hour Glory

The Dubai 24 Hour last weekend marked the opening round of the 2016 season for Ginetta Italia team, Nova Race.

With a record grid of over 100 cars, the Italian team entered a pair of Ginetta G55 GT4 cars and brought home a top six finish in the SP3 class.

Driving the team to 36thoverall was Gianluca Carboni, Roberto Gentili, Luca Magnoni, Luca Rangoni and Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup and British GT racer, Will Moore.

The quintet were on course for a podium finish thanks to qualifying third overall and remaining inside the top three for much of the opening hours. A problem during a pit stop lost them 15 minutes of race time, but it was contact with a GT3 car which dampened their chances.

It wasn’t as great an outing for the second Nova Race car. Bad luck befell the G55 shared by Luca Magnoni, Fabio Ghizzi, Mark Speakerwas, Michael Hofmann and Pavel Lefterov. Although having qualified fourth, contact with a rival on lap 14 put them out of the race completely.

Despite the results, the team are feeling incredibly positive ahead of the next round, the 12 Hours Italy-Mugello in two months’ time.
