Richard Elliker Progresses To GRDC+ With want2race

Yorkshireman Richard Elliker is set to put his road legal Ginetta G40 Club Car through its paces once again as he today confirms his progression into the GRDC+ series for 2016.

The 41 year old IT Consultant from Leeds made his motorsport debut last season as he earned his racing stripes with Ginetta. Finishing fifth overall in the driver rankings, there’s no doubt Elliker has his eyes firmly on the prizes on offer. To help him on his way, Elliker has elected to join the want2race fraternity, and he has high hopes.

want2race boss Ben Hyland was runner up in last year’s GRDC+, and the pair formed an instant friendship when they met in the paddock. Despite never having driven Brands Hatch before, a single training day with Hyland saw Elliker qualify on the front row and finish second overall for the opening race at the Kent circuit in 2015.

Richard Elliker, driver;“I had an absolute blast last year. The whole GRDC collective are a great bunch, and it’s the ideal way to fulfil that racing itch! I had some good results last year, so this season I really want to bring home some race wins for myself, thewant2race  team and all my friends and family that come to cheer me on!”

Hayley Hickmore, Ginetta Championships Coordinator;“We’re delighted to have Richard back with us in 2016. He’s a great character around the paddock and he had some great results last season. He’ll be sure to give our Year Two GRDC+  drivers a run for their money!”

Ben Hyland, want2race co-owner added;“It’s going to be an incredibly exciting year for want2race as we prepare to offer full GRDC+ team support, testing and driver tuition on the British GT support bill. Richard has a great debut season in the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club last year, and we’re going to build on that success in 2016.”

For 2016, the GRDC+ grid is bigger than ever, as the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club class of 2015 join those who joined Ginetta for the inaugural season in 2014. With that in mind, the 2016 GRDC+ calendar will feature both standalone races and outings as part of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge grid.
