Founder and Managing Director of SimpleUsability Behavioural Research, Guy Redwood, has today (21/01/2016) confirmed his return to British GT support series, GRDC+.
A fellow Yorkshireman, Redwood joined the Ginetta fraternity in 2014 as one of the first people to sign up for the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club in its inaugural year. Since then he has honed his driving skills behind the wheel of his Ginetta G40, which also doubles as his day-to-day run-around.
With a keen interest in engineering and cars, Guy's commitment to his business meant he had little time to indulge his hobby. Luckily, the GRDC provided the perfect opportunity to pursue a lifelong interest, and provide him with a usable road car in his favourite colour – orange.
A popular character around the paddock, thanks to his self-proclaimed “fashion inspiring dress sense and helmet defying quiff” Guy is never without his Swiss BBQ, which he uses to prepare perfect après race food for his fellow drivers.
Guy Redwood, driver:“It’s been a fantastic ride with Ginetta! Flatout through Eau Rouge was the most exhilarating thing last year and I can’t wait to do it again in 2016! I really want to get a podium finish, I have the pace in testing, it’s just a case of stitching it all together with other cars on the track.”
Hayley Hickmore, Ginetta Championships Coordinator:“Guy epitomises what the GRDC is all about. He’s a business owner with not a lot of spare time, but a passion for cars and motorsport. He’s the life and soul of the party after the day’s racing is over, and more often than not, they’ll be replaying the day’s racing around his BBQ on an evening.”
The GRDC+ provides Ginetta Racing Drivers Club graduates with an arena in which to race their road-legal Ginetta G40 Club Cars. It is also the ideal starting platform for drivers who have too much circuit racing experience for the pure entry-level Ginetta Racing Drivers Club.
In support of the British GT, the 2016 GRDC+ calendar will feature standalone races, plus outings as part of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge grid. Drivers can take in Brands Hatch, Rockingham, Silverstone, Spa Francorchamps, Snetterton and Donington Park.
