Cameron Roberts Switches To JHR For Ginetta Junior Title Bid

Cameron Roberts has today confirmed plans to return to the newly-rebranded  2016 Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship as part of the JHR Developments team.

Having finished as runner up in the 2015 Ginetta Junior Scholarship, Cameron made his debut in the championship last season. Picking up no less than three rookie trophies, he also represented Ginetta factory outfit Team LNT in the Henry Surtees Karting Challenge for 2015.

Switching to JHR Developments for this season, Roberts has his sights set firmly on the overall championship title. To help him deliver on his ambition, he’s enlisted the help of UK driver manager, Graeme Glew.

Cameron Roberts, driver:"I’m feeling incredibly confident ahead of the 2016 Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship, I know I’ve got the pace and ability, and now I have a great bunch of people around me with JHR Developments and the Race Driver Development team. There’s no doubt I’ve got my eyes on the prize, and we are going to work hard to get it.”

Graeme Glew, Director, Race Driver Development:"In 2015 we decided to place two of our Junior Academy drivers in to the Ginetta Junior Championship. Kyle Hornby and Cameron Roberts were both 15 and had left competitive karting. Having managed and sourced sponsors for our drivers for 20 years  we have been extremely satisfied with the organisation, the competitiveness and the exposure of Ginetta. We expect to place our two rookies in to the series again in the hope that one of them can win the Championship in 2016!"

With more races than ever before, the 2016 Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship see’s five additional rounds added to the calendar, with three races scheduled at Donington Park, Croft, Knockhill, Rockingham and Silverstone.

Committed to supporting driver development, the Junior prize package is designed to encouraged progression through the formulae. The winner of the Junior series will be loaned a Ginetta G55 GT4 car to be used in the 2017 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup.

Broadcast live on ITV4, the opening rounds of the Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship get underway at Brands Hatch on 2/3 April 2016.
