Tom Hibbert To Launch Full Season GT4 SuperCup Campaign

Tom Hibbert is set to contest a full season in the 2016 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, after making his debut in the championship during the latter half of the 2015 season.

The 28 year old from Grantham, Lincolnshire has been karting since he was 13, and won the Junior Gearbox series in 2003/2004. He then progressed to the senior class in 2007/2008 and finished second overall, as well as being crowned the 'O Plate' winner.

Taking a seven year hiatus from motorsport, Tom decided to get back on track having seen Ginetta in action during a BTCC race weekend.  By July 2015, Tom had passed his ARDS test and taken delivery of his brand new G55 GT4 car.

In order to upgrade his new licence to a National A, Tom entered select rounds of the GT Cup to gain signatures. With the correct licence in hand, he made his SuperCup debut in the final two rounds of the championship in order to prepare him for a full-season campaign.

Tom Hibbert;“I am really looking forward to a full season in the 2016 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup! The G55 is an incredible car to drive and it’s a very competitive championship! Racing in the last two rounds of 2015 really gave me and the team a taste for it!! We are excited for the challenge ahead!!  ”

Ashley Gallagher, Ginetta Championships Manager added; “We are delighted that Tom has decided to contest a full season in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup. He’s come from a strong racing background and knows the Ginetta G55 GT4 car and many of the TOCA circuits from his time in the GT Cup, so I’m sure he’ll be challenging from the outset.”

The Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup will see a change in format for 2016 in order to keep costs to a minimum. The championship will be reduced to eight weekends, and will ‘sit out’ the Thruxton (07/08 May) and Croft (18/19 June) meetings. A testing restriction will also be in place. After the Ginetta Media Day, competitors will only be able to test at championship venues during the official Ginetta pre-event test and the official Friday test before the event.

Broadcast live on ITV4, the opening rounds of the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup get underway at Brands Hatch on 2/3 April 2016. To discuss how you can get on the grid, call us on 0845 2 10 50 50.
