Karim Sekkat, Chairman & Managing Director of Oxford Engineering Group, is preparing to put his mechanical knowledge to the test in 2016, as he joins the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club.
A celebrated businessman in the UK, the 45 year old from Oxford was named National Entrepreneur of the Year runner-up in 2007 and 2008. Not only that, but Oxford Engineering has also been described as ‘a jewel in the crown of British engineering’ by the Secretary of State. This commitment to engineering made Ginetta the perfect fit for his move into motorsport.
No stranger to adrenaline-fuelled pastimes, Karim already spends a lot of his spare time skydiving and kitesurfing. He now turns his attentions to the GRDC after being attracted to the level playing field offered to drivers, and the good looking Ginetta G40 Club Car, which focuses largely on driver skill.
Karim explained;“When I decided to ‘go racing’, I analysed the different options available for amateur racing drivers, and found the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club offers everything you want in a championship; a real ‘drivers’ car, a sizeable grid, routes for progression and great British manufacturing skills. I can’t wait to get started!”
Always striving for excellence and never afraid of a challenge, Karim has his sights firmly set on silverware in 2016. He’s been putting in the homework too and already achieved his transformation into a fully-fledged Ginetta racing driver. By the time the season begins, he will have enjoyed eight tutored track days to ensure he has the best possible chance of taking the title.
Created exclusively for newcomers to the sport, the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club is the perfect entry into motorsport for the as yet uninitiated. If you want to tick ‘become a racing driver’ off your bucket list, check out ginetta.com/grdc to discuss how you can get on the grid.
