Sebastian Priaulx To Contest 2016 Ginetta Junior Championship

Sebastian Priaulx, the 2016 Ginetta Junior Scholarship runner-up has today announced plans to contest the 2016 KICK Start Energy Drink Ginetta Junior Championship with JHR Developments.

The Guernsey Kart Club Champion, who is also the son of three-time WTCC champion Andy, made his competitive debut in the KICK Start Energy Drink Ginetta Junior Winter Series at Snetterton on 7/8 November with the JHR team.

Impressing from the outset, the 14 year old took three podiums in the Rookie Class, and qualified in third for the second day of racing. Now, the fourth generation Priaulx racing driver is hoping to translate that success into securing the 2016 Ginetta Junior Rookie Cup.

Seb said of his debut season in sports car racing:“I’ve had a great time with Ginetta already, in both the Scholarship and the Winter Series, so now I’m really keen to get going with the main championship! The car is great to drive and hopefully we can add to the strong results we had in the Winter Series when the season begins in April.”

Committed to bringing drivers into motorsport, and nurturing their development as racing drivers throughout their careers, Ginetta has implemented a number of changes to the KICK Start Energy Drink Ginetta Junior Championship for 2016.

There will be an additional five races added to the calendar, with three races scheduled at Donington Park, Croft, Knockhill, Rockingham and Silverstone. Whilst in order to control season costs, a testing restriction will be introduced.

The changes are designed to further strengthen the Ginetta motorsport ladder, the prize package is also designed to encouraged progression through the formulae. The winner of the Junior series will be loaned a Ginetta G55 GT4 car to be used in the 2017 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup.
