KICK Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship Preview: Snetterton

This season has already seen 28 teenage racers battling it out in the ultra-competitive KICK Start Energy Drink Ginetta Junior Championship. With ten different drivers finishing on the podium, and nineteen of the 14 – 17 year olds finishing inside the top ten, we’re going to be in for an exciting ride here at Brands Hatch. Ruth Harrison looks at the grid.

Jamie Caroline heads the pack as the second half of the season shifts into gear, having passed Senna Proctor for the championship lead following a double win at Croft, making it four consecutive victories for the HHC driver.

Proctor’s JHR Developments team-mates Billy Monger and Dan Zelos have each enjoyed a strong early season, picking up seven podiums between them and bringing them right into the mix for the championship title.

Just a handful of points separate Jonathan Hadfield from a spot inside the top five as the championship arrives in Norfolk. Taking the first win of his Ginetta career at Donington Park, he will be looking for a repeat of that success here.

The battle for the final places inside the top 10 continue to rage, with just 12 points between Lewis Brown and Rookie racers Patrik Matthiesen and Stuart Middleton. Kyle Hornby completes the top 10, with a second place at Croft bolstering his position in the standings.

Will Tregurtha has finished in the top ten in half the races so far this year, whilst a storming performance for Ben Green at Croft saw him climb from 22ndto 9th, giving him his best finish of the season so far.

Other drivers to have enjoyed top 10 results include Matt Chapman, Cameron Roberts, William Stacey, Alex Day, Sebastian Perez and Geri Nicosia, whilst Dave Wooder, Rowan Bailey, Esmee Hawkey and Frank Bird will no doubt be hoping to pick up their first top 10 result here.

Having made their debuts at the last event Charlie Fagg, Devlin DeFrancesco and Connor Grady will be looking to build upon their experience behind the wheel of the Ginetta G40, as the newcomers to the field. To keep track of the action live from your phone, follow @Ginettacars on Twitter.
