The KICK Start Energy Drink Ginetta Junior Championship roars back into action at Thruxton this weekend as a packed grid of teenage racers prepare to tackle the Hampshire circuit. With Rookie racers mixing it with seasoned competitors at the last event, there promises to be no end of excitement throughout their two encounters.
With two wins and a clean sweep of podium results so far this year, Senna Proctor is the early championship leader and will be the driver they all want to beat this weekend. With his JHR Developments teammate Billy Monger looking strong for more silverware whilst Dan Zelos looks to claim his first 2015 trophy. Joining the trio in the JHR Developments race centre is Esmee Hawkey who is looking to improve on her previous results alongside rookie racers Seb Perez and Rowan Bailey.
Having secured his first ever pole position and race win at Donington Park three weeks ago, Jonathan Hadfield shone at the Derbyshire circuit. The R & J Motorsport driver also ensured his teammates were on top form too, with Lewis Brown adding a third place to the two top four finishes he had already enjoyed.
Elsewhere in the R & J Motorsport setup, newcomer Kyle Hornby picked up a rookie cup podium to add to the one he collected at Brands Hatch, whilst Frank Bird continued to expand his knowledge behind the wheel.
HHC Motorsport is home to top rookie Patrik Matthiesen who has already picked up a selection of outright podiums throughout his debut, alongside his equally impressive teammate Sophia Floersch who is currently sitting third in the rookie cup. Rounding out the squad is 2014 Winter Series champion Jamie Caroline, despite only one podium to date, he impressed at Donington to come from the back of the pack to fourth in race one and will be one to watch this weekend.
Currently sitting second in the rookie cup is William Tregurtha (RCE), who has narrowly missed out on a top five finish in three of the four races run thus far, but is a regular on the rookie cup podium. Expect him to be racing hard with Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner Stuart Middleton (Douglas) in the Quinton Hazell livered car.
TCR will once again be fielding their three car line-up of Matt Chapman, Dave Wooder and Cameron Roberts, whilst completing the grid are William Stacey (Jamsport), Ben Green (SuperGreen Racing), Alex Day (Tollbar Racing) and Geri Nicosia (Elite Motorsport).
If the previous outings were anything to go by, this weekend’s KICK Start Energy Drink Ginetta Junior Championship promises two unmissable races from our field of 14 – 17 year olds, so make sure you never miss a minute of the action both on and off track by following @GinettaCars on Twitter.
