Paul Garstang has become the latest racing driver to join the Ginetta family, after the 48 year old from Haslingden, Lancashire committed to a season in the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club for 2015.
Having heard about the GRDC whilst a spectator at Oulton Pack in 2014, Garstang was attracted to the close links Ginetta has with the Le Mans 24 Hours, an event he attends every year. He said;“I came across the GRDC whilst watching the British GT championship at Oulton Park and learning all about the package and how it was targeted at us more "mature" folks.
“It was just too good an opportunity to pass up and I was mentally committed to 2015 very quickly. I suspect that very few if any of us will ever get a chance to race GT’s at Le Mans, but this is the start of that journey and Ginetta’s close association with Le Mans brings the dream a little closer."
Looking forward to starting his career with Ginetta, Garstang’s last real experience of racing was in a 125cc Rotax Max during his twenties, but he is hoping for a strong season and to take home some silverware. Before that however, he will enjoy more track days with tuition as part of their driver training, before Ginetta arranges his ARDS test.
Speaking about his experience so far, Garstang said;“Ginetta make you feel part of an established motor racing family straight from the first track day. They are such a professional and friendly team, who have created a package second to none, with the added draw of racing as part of the British GT championship weekend at the UK's top racing circuits. Plus, the added transition into GRDC + in year two with the chance to race at Spa is just fantastic!”
Created exclusively for newcomers to the sport, the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club roars into action at Rockingham Motor Speedway on 2/3 May. There are only a few places remaining for the forthcoming season, so if you are interested in getting your race licence, visit ginetta.com/grdc for more information.
