Ginetta is once again set to offer one aspiring racing driver the career opportunity of a lifetime, as entries into the 2017 Ginetta Junior Scholarship open today (12 May 2016).
Taking place at Blyton Park, Lincolnshire from the 24th to 26th October, the Ginetta Junior Scholarship is designed to assist youngsters in making the transition into sports car racing with a fully-funded season in the Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship on offer for the winner.
The past two years have been the most successful yet. 2016 scholar Daniel Harper leads the Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship Rookie Class and has already won a race outright, whilst his predecessor Stuart Middleton won the 2015 Ginetta Junior Winter Series and currently leads the 2016 Junior Championship.
Daniel Harper, Ginetta Junior Scholar 2016; “We’re only three weekends into this year’s Ginetta Junior Championship and it’s by far been the best race season of my life. The whole experience of the Ginetta Junior Scholarship is worthwhile for drivers looking to move into sports car racing, and I really would recommend it to any young racers looking to make that next step.”
Ashley Gallagher, Ginetta Championships Manager; “The Ginetta Junior Scholarship is the biggest prize in UK motorsport and each year we see some incredible driving talent entering the competition. It’s fantastic for Ginetta to be able to offer such a life-changing prize to an aspiring racing driver, and we look forward to meeting this year’s candidates.”
Launched in 2009, the scholarship is awarded to one driver who shines in the eyes of Ginetta. Not only by offering ‘the overall racing package’ of speed, an ability to learn, professionalism, fitness and team work, but also as a marketable individual who will run well in a sponsorship-backed G40.
As well as their entry and race car, the winner will receive professional car preparation with an experienced team, insurance throughout the season, a Ginetta race suit and a season supply of race tyres and fuel. To participate in the Ginetta Junior Scholarship, competitor dates of birth must fall between 01/01/2001 and 21/03/2003 and they must not have previously competed in a MSA circuit car race.
